2008 Volunteer Opportunities Tigard Area Farmers’ Market
May 9, 2008

Ever wonder how the market happens? Mostly the market is a group of volunteers and part-time staff who pitch-in and make things happen. The Tigard Market is a more interesting place because of the diverse group of people who are involved.

The following volunteer opportunities are open for the 2008 season:

~ Web Liaison: Gather and forward information about the market to our webmaster. Create and help implement new and efficient ways to use the website to serve vendors and market customers. Ask for a more specific list of duties.

~~Adult Kid’s Activities Coordinator. : Work with the market’s Teen Activity Coordinator to dream up once a month fun for market kids. Educate, entertain, bring kids and their parental units into the market to see how much fresh can be!

~~Marketing Team Captain: : Flex your creativity while helping get the word out about TAFM’s new location and the wonderful market offerings on a limited budget. Plan, lead and implement new signage, fliers, press releases, banners, and more. Brainstorm new low-cost ways to promote the market and the fresh produce and fun within. Four hours per week is requested thru July.

~~Market Partnership Facilitator: : Help create, leverage and maximize mutually beneficial community partnerships. Sharpen your networking skills while promoting the market to local businesses and other nonprofits. Ideas available for pursuing include: contacting local churches, retirement homes, affordable housing complexes, developing community gardens with market plants and then selling the produce, and linking with local business’ promotions. What other plans could we layout and implement to bring market fresh produce and fun to the Tigard community? Between 2 and 4 hours per week is suggested.
